Totally agreed. I am a casual PvPer and I suffer the pain of random PUG. Yes I am in a good PvP guild. However sometimes I want to play tomb but they may be doing other things. So most of the time I just get to PUG even I got a good guild.
There are always people agrue this would destroy team work. However everyone can still choose between arranged team and random team. This would keep those serious players unaffected while keeping the casual players happy.
Arena.net have to implement this. If they don't then arena.net is too conservative. I believe the one who disagree might just never experienced the pain of random PUGs. They appeared to be : "I don't use that feature anyway, so I don't want you to use it". It just make me sick.
For the random group building feature. I got a few suggestions:
Everyone can click 'enter mission' even if they only have one or two members. However, they will be randomly merged up with others who also didn't have full team.
For example If my party list only have 4 players. When I click enter mission, my team will merge with other teams. Which may be 4 independent players, or 2 teams of 2 players, or another team of 4 players.
So a group leader can just grab 2 Monks then click enter mission, it will form a full group with at least 2 monks!
Also lets say if I have 2 other friends who want to play with me. We 3 can still play the tomb efficently.

ps: If they just formed a very imbalanced poor team, they will be crushed out by those enterance sprits anyway. So they can just start again without wasting a lot of time.

I can see two things happening with this:
#1) The random groups will have no prayer and no one will use the button because they get massacred.
or
#2) The button will become popular and random teams actually have a shot in the first few rounds because they will end up facing other random teams quite often. However the organized teams will rapidly rise to the top and trounce the random teams. The random teams will usually never make it past a few rounds.

As mentioned on other threads, random teams would be helped greatly if their was a quick way to see the skill bar and attributes of the other team members. In this way, even a random team can formulate at least a bit of strategy.

I would be tempted to go to HoH.
Why throughout the game are we practically forced to use pickups or henchmen to complete quests and missions but when we get to the "end game" we must have X set of skills and be part of a specifically built team?
Sorry pal, i'm kicking you because you don't have X and you don't like using Y.
We spend the whole game perfecting and using great strategies against a massive variety of monsters and bosses. Yet in the HoH which is full of people more stupid than Stefan, we must totally change our perfected builds (or even class!!) or not get invited.
Granted that HoH is different in some respects to PvE but we should at least have the option of using our favourite PvE build.
On a sidenote, my opinion has litlle value because i am purely a PvE player
but consider me in favor of this proposal anyway
I agree.

So true.
Sure, random teams would suck and get slaughtered in the PvE round or in the first PvP round 95% of the time... so what?
It'd be an easy, quick way for casual players to check out what battles larger than 4v4 are like... and it doesn't hurt hardcore Tombs players because they would still be able to organize their own groups.
If anything, it'd make life easier for those teams, because they might run into 3 all-warrior random groups in the first 4-way PvP map or something.

One of the most agravating problems with guild wars is putting a party together. Its a very long and grueling process, epecially when building a team for tombs. It fails to deliver on the being able to enter the game and start having fun right away. There is nothing wrong with carefull planning and putting a good build together, but it's difficult to put together a quick pickup team and take it for a run. Many people just don't like being leader because it can be quite an involved process to put together a team, so they just become joiners. It's even more difficult and time consuming to find a team if your not one of the poplular classes depending on what the current build fad is. Also, chat has become nothing more than a place to spam your tag line when looking for a party. It would be nice if local chat was actually filled with coversation. Another big time waster is having to jump around to each district to find one with enough people to put a party together, and everyone wants to be in district 1 so it's always full.
[Solution]:
A party formation window with 3 panes in it. In one pane a leader can choose the primary and/or secondary class of all 8 players that he wants or simply designate "any profession". In another pane there will be a list of currently forming groups with a short description line. In this pane you can filter the groups by whatever class you are or want. And in the last pane you can see the details of the group you clicked on. This party formation window should include all districts of the current location you are in, or maby have the option to search all parties forming in all districts. After the mission or quest has been started, all the panes can be hidden except the party list. You could further expand this to have some predefined team templates to make it very simple for anyone even new people to start a party, and also to better automate the process of putting a party together. You might also want to hide all panes but the party list when the player joins a group to avoid team jumping. It would also be nice if a leader could redesignate who the leader of the party is.

I think there should be a bonus for winning with a random group team. Those who use the option should get perhaps 20% more faction and fame (rounded up to the nearest whole). This would encourage random groups and it would also be a nice reward since winning with a random group would be quite tough.
